So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it.
Pursue the things over which Christ  presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the
ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, be alert to what
is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective.

It was a typical conversation between two coaches. Following a very one-sided football scrimmage, one coach asked the other, “Are we that good, or are they that bad?” I had to laugh when I saw them look at each another and answer at the same time, “It’s probably a little of both!” In athletics and in life we walk a slippery slope. When things are going well, we usually give ourselves too much credit and when they are going bad, we take too much of the blame. Keeping the proper perspective in our lives can be very difficult.

The Apostle Paul addresses our difficult battle with perspective in Colossians. As followers of Jesus Christ, how do we develop a heavenly perspective, while continuing to live in this crazy, mixed up world? We have taken the faith plunge and are learning a new way of life and thinking. But guess what, it’s hard to live with your feet and head in different places. A.T. Robinson puts it this way, “The Christian is seeking heaven and thinking heaven. His feet are on the earth, but his head is with the stars. He is living like a citizen of heaven here on earth.” Jesus says there is a much bigger game taking place than the one we see on earth. This is not a task for the faint of heart, it takes hard work and discipline. We do it one day at a time. We keep looking up and striving to stay focused on the heavenly perspective.

Lord Jesus, teach me to see through Your eyes. Give me a heavenly perspective and help me to live it out each day. Amen.
