In the world of sport, each new season brings excitement and hope. The previous season is history and we all get a fresh start. The great news is that everyone is UNDEFEATED. As the season plays out however, very few teams are able to win them all. Sometimes the other team is better and there are some nights the ball simply does not bounce our way. To go undefeated is a rare and amazing experience. The very nature of sport requires us to record our losses and deal with them in our own way.

If life were a sports contest, we would rack up our share of losses along the way. Why, because we are sinful in nature. As hard as we may try, we sin and the Bible says the result of sin is death. Since God is sinless, that leaves us in a serious predicament. We can’t be with God in our sin. This is where Jesus Christ enters the game on our behalf. He took on our sin and died an agonizing death on the cross so that we could stay in the game. Satan seemed to be victorious at the cross of Jesus, but God turned Satan’s apparent victory into defeat when Jesus rose from the dead. Sin and death are no match for God. God has and always will win! God has and always will be UNDEFEATED!

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me a way to be on Your team. Thank you for Your amazing love demonstrated at the cross. Help me to live out my life for You and share your love with others. Amen.
