To sustain anything over a long period of time requires great passion. That applies to a marriage, a career, or a hobby. When we have great passion for something or someone, we are willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.  Time is not an issue because we love being with our spouse, we don’t consider what we do to be a job and we are rejuvenated by our hobby. When we are passionate, we are committed. Marriages have their ups and downs. Coaches don’t always have winning seasons and mastering a hobby involves a lot of trial and error. Passion is a powerful emotion and when we add love to the equation, it can be unstoppable! Couples who reach a 50th anniversary know about love. A coach who retires after 40 years in the profession knows about love. Anyone who has mastered a hobby knows about love. Love pushes us through the hard times, it sustains us when we have no answers, and it keeps us pressing on when we want to quit.

To see Jesus is to see great passion! He was passionate about teaching His disciples. He was passionate about exposing the Pharisees and their teachings. He was passionate about healing the sick. He was committed to the role God placed Him in though it brought great hardship and suffering. His passion was real and through love it became unstoppable. Through God’s love, Jesus died a horrible death on the cross. Through God’s love, He allowed His Son to take on our sin. By entering into a personal relationship with the Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, His love gives allows us to push through the hard times, to keep searching when we have no answers and to keep pressing on when we want to quit.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love. Help me to be passionate about the work You have called me to today and to share the love of Jesus Christ with those I encounter today. Amen.
