“Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.”
– Genesis 6:22 (ESV)

I have been a baseball fan since I was eight years old. The game has everything a kid would love—running, sliding, catching, and throwing. Baseball is magical to me, and I am amazed that after all these years, I can still go to a game and see something I have never seen before. The inventors of the game paid great attention to detail. The baseball diamond seems to be laid out perfectly. Ninety-foot base paths, home plate measures 17 inches regardless of the level of play and a precise distance of 60 feet 6 inches from the pitching rubber to home plate. Now let’s examine the baseball itself. The major league ball weighs between 5 and 5 ¼ ounces. It measures between 9 and 9 ¼ inches in circumference. And to the delight of trivia buffs, every baseball has exactly 216 individual red stitches. The baseball gods seemed to know exactly what they were doing when they created baseball.

God had a perfect plan in mind when he told Noah to “build a large boat.” Now we know that all boats are not the same. Some are made of metal and others are made of wood. Boats can be large or small and they come in every imaginable shape. But God gave Noah a detailed plan for the boat He wanted built. And the Bible says, “Noah did everything exactly as God had commanded him.” It was to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. God told Noah to leave an 18-inch opening below the roof all the way around the boat. There was to be a door on the side and three decks inside the boat. God knew there was a flood coming and Noah was about to see something no man had ever seen before. However, there was a specific reason for every detail God gave Noah. God knew exactly what He was doing when He created His plan to build a boat and it was perfect.

Heavenly Father, help me to be in the details of whatever it is You have called me to do today. May I see the wisdom of Your perfect plan. Amen.
