Keep Growing

“To the law and the testimony! If they do not speak according
to this word, there will be no dawn for them.”
– Isaiah 8:20

Successful coaches are always learning! You can go to any clinic in the country and find the best coaches sitting on the front row. To me, that speaks volumes about why those coaches are successful. Successful coaches do not stand still; they’re always looking for a nugget that can make them a better coach or team. However, there are also coaches convinced they know all they need to know. They have their system, it has worked for years, so why look for ways to change. I have always liked the saying that past performance does not guarantee future success. My translation is that if you are standing still, it won’t take long for someone to pass you.

I love spending time in God’s Word—The Bible. Like the coach at a clinic, each time I open it up I find a nugget. I believe the more nuggets I can get and apply to my life, the better chance I will have in living out my life according to God’s plan. I want to stay hungry and be a lifelong learner when it comes to God’s Word. I don’t want to stand still or be in the dark. I want to be like those athletes who beg their coaches for more work. Being a student of the bible does not guarantee success, but I do believe there will be fewer bumps along the way.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your instruction book, the Bible. Grow me in knowledge and wisdom as I study and apply Your Word to my life today. Amen.
