Hard Times

October 5, 2015

“People can never predict when hard times might come.
Like fish in a net or birds in a trap,
people are caught by sudden tragedy.”

– Ecclesiastes 9:12

Coaches and their families are not immune to tragedy.
Life can change in a moment. I have counseled and prayed with coaches in difficult times. The loss of a player, unexpected changes in health, or damage to personal property can hit us hard. As the rain continues to fall and the waters rise from unprecedented rain and flooding in South Carolina, my heart goes out to the many coaches and their families who have been impacted by this event. Please pray for us. It will be a long road to recovery. What I do know is that coaches are resilient people. They are accustomed to sudden change and making the necessary adjustments. Panic is not an option. While we can’t predict when hard times will come, we can draw comfort from God’s promises. Psalm 50:15 reminds us to call on him in times of trouble. God promises he will rescue us! We are then challenged with the responsibility of giving him the glory for bringing us through.

Again, I ask for your prayers in the coming days.
Thank you in advance. I have always heard that if God brings us to it, He will guide us through it. God bless.
