Footwork

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.”
Psalm 37:23 (New Living Translation)

Coaches spend hours working with their athletes developing correct footwork.
We realize than any skill, regardless of how simple or obvious it seems, has to be taught and practiced on a consistent basis.  Wise coaches know that teaching correct footwork can be the difference between winning and losing.  Having your athletes practice their footwork is an important part of developing them into complete players. Typically, the athletes that are able to move effectively on the field or court experience greater success.

Footwork is important in our Christian walk as well.  God plans and arranges the steps of those who live in fellowship with Him.  He is always there to lift us up when we are striving to please Him. Does this make us immune to trials and hardship?  No!  What it does mean is that God will never let us be consumed by our difficulties.  He holds us in His hands.  All too often we get caught up in our own fancy footwork rather than walking the pathway God has laid out.  It is up to us to learn the footwork techniques the Master Coach is teaching and to practice them on a consistent basis.

Lord, guide my steps today.  Teach me that Your ways are better than my ways.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
