How awesome is this place!

April 13, 2015

He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place!  This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”
– Genesis 28:17

Have you ever wondered what heaven is like?  To a golfer, the
closest thing to heaven must be the crown jewel of all golf
courses—Augusta National.  Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts created a
golf environment unlike any other in the world.  There is something
about Augusta National that moves people in profound ways.  Its
breathtaking beauty has been known to bring grown men to tears.  Life is
not complete, even for the weekend golfer, until they find themselves
standing on this hallowed ground.  A trip to Augusta National can be
difficult to put into words.  One man described his only trip as
“perfect.”  He says he never wants to go again because it can’t get any
better than what he experienced.  Another man, who attends each year,
tells listeners that people go “just to breath the air.”  In the golf
world, this is truly heaven on earth.

Following a tragic automobile accident, Don Piper tells of his death and brief time at heaven’s door.
He describes a wonderful reception by people he had known during his
lifetime, each smiling and praising God.  He was overcome by the sound
of beautiful music that never stopped.  It was as though he was hearing
thousands of songs and hymns at the same time, yet they blended
perfectly.  Colors were brilliant and unlike any he had ever seen.  How
magnificent does this sound and he was only standing at the gates of
heaven.  What will it be like to stand on the other side of that gate?
God has prepared a wonderful home for those who have surrendered their
lives to him.  No pain, no sorrow, no aching backs or heartbreak!  Are
you going to spend eternity with him?  Will your family, loved ones and
friends be there too?

Lord
God, it’s exciting to know that you are preparing a place for us to
spend eternity with you.  What a gift!  Teach us to give this gift to
others and to be Kingdom Builders for you this week.  Amen.
