Relentless

September 17, 2018

“But we are not those who draw back and are destroyed, but those who have faith and obtain life.”
– Hebrews 10:39
He just wouldn’t quit! I’m sure our opponent that night didn’t spend much time preparing for my miniature nose guard. He stood 5-foot-7 and the roster listed him at 160 pounds, though that was more than a little generous. His motor never stopped running, and his favorite response to my coaching directives was, “Come on coach, I can do it!” As quickly as the ball was snapped, he was in the backfield creating havoc for the quarterback and headaches for the head-scratching coaches on the opposite sideline. I love players like that! They don’t look like much getting off the bus, but they are relentless.

Walking daily in the Christian faith is not a journey for the weak or faint of heart. We too, must be relentless. On Sundays, as we stand with fellow believers, we feel confident and determined. On Mondays, the world hits us in the mouth and we must decide whether to stand our ground or draw back. The only way to survive is to be relentless in our pursuit of our Heavenly Father. We must pray relentlessly, study His Word relentlessly and serve others relentlessly. Physical stature isn’t that important; God just wants a big heart and a relentless attitude.

Lord, I may not have much, but when I give it all to You and refuse to quit, we can accomplish great things. Thank You for showing Your strength through my weakness. Make me relentless today in all I do. Amen.
