Take a Knee

January 11, 2016

“Be still and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.”
– Psalm 46:10

Everybody take a knee! It’s not unusual for a coach to gather his or her team together following an intense drill or at the end of a difficult practice. As the athletes take a knee, they know the pace is about to change. Following an extended period of constant movement and intense activity, the action stops and the focus changes. Coach commands that all eyes and ears are fixed on him or her. During the next few minutes, we can anticipate that coach is going to share something important that everyone needs to hear.

I’m constantly reminded of the importance of finding time to take a knee with God. Everyone I know is busy! Careers, family and technology consume us and much of our time each day. Psalm 46:10 instructs us to “be still and know that I am God.” Are you allowing God to be the center of your life? Are you spending time with Him on a daily basis? Are you reading and living out His Word? How long has it been since you took a knee and focused on what God has to tell you? Give it a try, I guarantee He’s going to share something you need to hear!

Heavenly Father, You are an all-knowing counselor. Your wisdom is great. Create in me the desire to spend time with You today and every day. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
